We started the week off strong by finally finishing our 2 kilometres of woody material management in Westmoreland! To say our crew was happy would be an understatement. In the afternoon, we decided to start building more brush mats to help our streams in DeSable.
The next day, we went full speed ahead to reach our brush mat goal. We managed to build three brush mats in the morning and another one in the afternoon. To finish off the day, we also made a cover log in the afternoon. It was a busy day, but the progress definitely made all the hard work worth it.
Wednesday was another huge day for the crew as we headed out to the Tryon streams. We really made a dent in our goals, completing an impressive four brush mats and three cover logs in total. Meanwhile, our other crew was busy setting out crab traps that we would come back to collect the following day.
Thursday morning, part of the crew headed out to pull in the crab traps while the rest travelled toward Victoria to take part in a beach cleanup. Even with a busy morning, we still managed to make the most of our afternoon. We dropped one more tree and turned it into a great cover log.
To wrap up the week, we tackled our park maintenance! This time, we also focused on cleaning our duck tubes, which took up most of the day. After lunch, we tidied up around the office and even did some maintenance on our chainsaws.
Overall, it was a busy, productive, and rewarding week for the crew. From completing our woody material management to building brush mats and cover logs, doing a beach cleanup, checking crab traps, and keeping up with park maintenance, we definitely kept ourselves busy! Most importantly, we worked together, pushed ourselves, and made some great progress toward our goals. It was a great week of teamwork, hard work, and getting things done!
